SMASH RETURNS!

SMASH has returned and we have been in AWE of what the Lord is doing there!!! We had 33 at our first meeting!!! 35 at our second meeting!! AND 40 at our last meeting!!! 40 Kids all CRAMMED into our apartment! (This is where these pics were taken, in our new apartment) It's been so incredible!!! The Holy Spirit has been moving through Chris in an AMAZING WAY!! The Lord has given Chris the EXACT thing that the kids needed to hear... to challenge them and convict them!! By almost EVERY Account... our kids all had a BAD SUMMER! Almost all of them admit that their walks with the Lord strayed during the summer. AND.. they all ADMIT that they need some "IN YOUR FACE" TRUTH RIGHT NOW!! and THAT is exactly what we've been giving them!! No Sugar Coating... We have gotten some great responses, but we have to keep them on track... (don't we all need that help!! :) ) Please pray with us on their behalf... that they will continue to yearn for the PASSION for CHRIST that they had back in April, May and June! Thank you!!

Here are a few pictures from our last SMASH! In fact... we did a "SMASH AND CRASH!" And we had 40 students for SMASH, and then 25 "CRASH" or spend the night!! It was awesome!! :) The guys and Chris crashed at Casey's apartment. The girls, and Megan, all crashed here! It was GREAT! We took the Subway to the mall, and had a BLAST! The kids didn't get home until almost 5pm on Saturday... so we were wiped out! But it was so worth it!! **We are reminded each time that we do this... that "WE ARE OLD... OLDER THAN THEY ARE!!!" :) :) :) We wake up WIPED OUT!! But WE LOVE IT!!! **

Brasilia International School - 914 Location!!

Look especially at the windows. The old school had odd window bars and none of them matched. We replaced all the windows to make them uniform. We also got this incredible window decal for the front doors, can you see them?



We are still FAR from finished!! But... we are so blessed!! The end pictures are current pictures. They saved some pretty Palms, and our library is getting close to being finished. It was the Administration building, and now being gutted into a Library! It's gonna be awesome! You need to come and see it!! :)

Back in Brasilia and STRAIGHT TO WORK!!

Well, after some really rough travels... We arrived back in Brasilia. We had to fly separately a week apart for several different reasons. As soon as Chris arrived back "home" he headed straight to work!! We had a work team of 19 come from Pennsylvania to help with the new school! What a Blessing they were!!! Chris worked 12 hour days, painting, cleaning, spackling, sanding, everything!!! Caleb and I arrived a week later. We took a couple of days rest because Caleb didn't need to be at the construction site... and that is definitely what it was!! Our first week of inservices, ALL THE TEACHERS AND STAFF spent painting! By the end of the week, we were all experts!! :) We even had names for each other... the "Massa Master!" (Massa = the Brazilian name for Spackle), "The SAND MAN", "Roller Girl!" and many others!! :) It's truly amazing to see the difference. Here are some pics of the Work being done. I'll post some before and after in the next post!

The New School is such a HUGE BLESSING! God is simply Amazing!! At first, Many thought that our new school was TOO BIG for us! That we didn't need that much space... APPARENTLY the Lord agreed... we found out after we signed our long term lease... that 3 of the HUGE Buildings were now illegal! They had been built under a different code... so we had to TEAR THEM DOWN!!! Our "TOO BIG" school, then became "JUST RIGHT!" Sounds like the 3 Bears, huh!??! We started school on August 14th, and thankfully they were only half days... because we didn't have RUNNING WATER! Chris had a BLAST (umm.. not really) walking all the little kids outside to the PORTA-POTTIES!! Every single child said "How do we flush!!" Priceless!!! BUT... by the 3rd day of school.. the FIRST FULL DAY, we had lots of great water!!! Well... we are now fully into our new school... and while there is still MUCH to be done... Like more painting, finishing the library, BATHROOM STALL DOORS...etc... it's still so amazing to look at see what the LORD has done!! HE TOTALLY GETS ALL THE CREDIT!!

Caleb's "America" Birthday

At the end of July, we celebrated Caleb's Birthday! His birthday is actually in August, but since we knew we'd be back in Brazil, we had a Birthday party for him with all the people that LOVE him dearly!! We had a great time! Here are a few pics from the night! MANY MANY THANKS to "TiTi" Wanda for putting this Schindid on for us! Caleb had a WONDERFUL TIME and is STILL Talking about it! We love you guys, and Miss you very much!

More America Sightings!

What a Blessing it was to be in the US with all of our friends and family!! We got to meet some new people, and reunite with some old friends! We loved seeing all of you and are so grateful of our PRECIOUS time that we get to spend with all of you!! God bless you guys! IN THE USA!!

We are very blessed to be in the US right now! We have been truely OVERWHELMED at all the support and excitement we are receiving about all that has gone on at BIS! We are also so OVERWHELMED at all the LOVE that has been poured out!! From people sacrificing rooms for us, to many paid-for dinners, to Free Babysitting!! **Actually it should be more called... BABY BEGGING!! :) As many have BEGGED to keep Caleb and have him spend the night! He LOVES IT!

The other awesome thing about this summer is that we have actually had the AWESOME Opportunity to share at 6 Home Groups, 1 Youth group, 2 Churches, and 3 other Awesome Engagements. We have been so blessed by people that are getting as EXCITED AS WE ARE about what we do... and the Kids that we LOVE! :)

Our time in the US is drawing to a close... as Chris will leave on Sunday the 20th to head back. Caleb and I will follow a week later. We would appreciate prayers for travel safety - expecially for my "Unique" Left arm situation and many heavy suitcases! I'm working on my "Poor & Pitful Woman with Child Needing Help" Look!!! :) I hope it works well!!

Prom/Banquet!

BIS had the FIRST EVER Prom/ Graduation Banquet! It was AWESOME!!! Here are a few pics from the "NIGHT TO REMEMBER!" :)

End of May MADNESS!

** Ok... so maybe not MADNESS... but we were incredibly busy! The middle to end of May brought many fun activities! We had an AWESOME Last SMASH party! We invited the 6th graders to join us, and we celebrated and honored those who would be leaving us!

**We had more Sleepovers, both for Jr High and Sr High guys separately. We had Movie Night, and took all the kids on the Subway! That was really fun!

**We started to get ready for the Prom/Graduation Banquet. I took the girls shopping for their (and my) dresses! We had a blast! Made even more fun when the battery died and we had to get people to Jumpstart the car!! But we made it just fine!

**We also had a GREAT TIME at our End of the Year Staff Fellowship - Kodak Kapers! Where we do a scavenger hunt all over the city with Digital Cameras and Crazy Driving!! :)

It was a Great, but very busy month!! :) But as Chris always says... we'll Sleep on the Plane! :)

MORE INCREDIBLE BLESSINGS!

** You just can't imagine how much we are SCREAMING, SHOUTING, and REJOICING!!! **

During the months of April and May, we have now seen NINE lives Newly Committed to Jesus!! Nine Students took a stand to say that they wanted to be Different... that they wanted to Experience the Love of Christ in a PERSONAL way! NINE!! Six in April, plus 3 more in May! We stand in AWE!! Chris and I have never seen the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in this way. We are still amazed at it all! That we (Regular people from Southaven, MS/Arkansas) could have seen and been a part of this AMAZING SHOWING OF HIS GRACE, MERCY, AND LOVE! Nine of our International Students from all over the WORLD will now be YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST!

I wish I could post all of their pictures here... but can not for confidentiality reasons... but you would be amazed! These kids will travel all over the world... places that would be very hard for you to go... and will be able to share Christ with others... by their lives, testimonies, and love!

Please pray for these kids!!! It's ok if you don't know their names... God DOES! Please pray as we work very hard to continue to disciple and lead them in their new lives. Our desire is to never leave them alone or without support... we want to help them understand the commitment that they have made, and help them learn and grow! Please pray for them!! "THE NINE APRIL/MAY MIRACLES!"

SMASH Retreat 08!

WOW... I just don't even know where to start....

Honestly... To have had the AWESOME Priveledge to sit in the Presence and to See, Feel, and Experience the POWERFUL FLOW of the Holy Spirit!!! To have Witnessed the POWER of that FLOW Touching the Lives, Spirits, and HEARTS of the Kids that we LOVE SO DEARLY.... To see Brokenness... To see OUR KIDS CRYING OUT TO JESUS...

Honestly... TAKES MY BREATH AWAY!

We had an AMAZING Speaker! We had to step out on faith here... we didn't know him, haven't ever heard him, just got his name... so we PRAYED HARD for GOD to BRING HIS MAN... HIS MAN that would be shake our kids and put TRUTH right in front of them... so that they would LEAVE DIFFERENT! Well... HE HEARD OUR PRAYERS... and GAVE US THE DESIRES OF OUR HEART! He brought the most incredible Speaker! But more importantly... HE BROUGHT HIMSELF... SET UP CAMP... and CHANGED LIVES! HE DID... GOD DID... through the Power of the Holy Spirit! Incredible!

I need to make sure you let this sink in... the inpact of what happened to these lives... so I won't be posting nice happy pictures on this one... I don't want to take away from the POWER of what happened!
